This bold twist on traditional shakshuka swaps the usual spice blend for Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp. Sweet peppers and tomatoes simmer down into a rich, savory sauce before eggs are cracked directly into the bubbling chili crisp gravy. The result is smoky, spicy, deeply flavorful, and perfect for scooping up with crusty bread, naan, or warm roti.

Ingredients

4

For the Shakshuka

  • 2 tbspolive oil
  • 1yellow onion, diced
  • 1red bell pepper, diced
  • 3garlic cloves, minced
  • 1(28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 3 tbspYo Amma Indian Chili Crisp
  • 1 tspsalt
  • 1/2 tspblack pepper
  • 6eggs

For Finishing

  • Fresh coriander, chopped
  • Extra Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp
  • Crusty bread, naan, or roti

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook for 6–8 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized. Add the garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  2. 2

Add the crushed tomatoes, Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld together.

  3. 3

Using a spoon, create six small wells in the sauce. Crack an egg into each well. Cover the skillet and cook for 5–8 minutes, depending on how runny you like your yolks.

  4. 4

Remove from the heat and top with fresh coriander and an extra spoonful of Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp. Serve immediately with crusty bread, naan, or warm roti for scooping.

Pro Tips

  • For an even richer shakshuka, crumble a little feta or paneer over the top just before serving. The creamy cheese balances the warmth of the chili crisp and pairs beautifully with the jammy tomatoes and runny egg yolks.
  • Traditional shakshuka relies on a slow-cooked tomato and pepper base packed with spice. Yo Amma Indian Chili Crisp makes that process even easier by bringing slow-cooked aromatics, roasted spices, crunchy peanuts, coconut, and Guntur chilies into the pan with a single spoonful. It's a natural fit for shakshuka and adds layers of flavor that taste like they've been cooking all day.
